AmeriSpan - Volunteer in Mexico

Mexico
Share |

Location
Mexico: Buenavista, Cuernavaca, Guanajuato and 2 other cities

Typical Duration of Program
5-8 weeks

  • Description

MEXICO's people and geography are best described as diverse. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico's 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, Mexico boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archaeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts and isolated villages.

It's not possible to experience all of Mexico in one trip as it's such a varied country At AmeriSpan we can extend that statement to include our volunteer projects! You can choose from 6 destinations and dozens of projects. There's an orphanage which houses mostly indigenous children from the poorest area of Mexico and several shelters for the homeless, battered women and at-risk youth. You can give workshops on hygiene, fund-raise for a local charity...the options are endless.

A different type of experience is available at the Nature Reserves which need volunteers to help in the office and with research on-site. It makes for a good combination of those that are looking to experience Mexican professional life as well as the beautiful Mexican nature. For those that like to stay active there are more possibilities: You can volunteer in a rehabilitation clinic, help implement fitness programs for the elderly or organize sporting events at the local university.

  • AmeriSpan Study Abroad's Mission Statement

Our mantra is "Every Language, Every Culture, Everywhere." AmeriSpan Study Abroad has over 15 years experience and over 30,000 past participants. Our staff has three passions: language, culture, and travel. Individually and as a group, we have accumulated experiences and knowledge related to these passions. AmeriSpan's staff has traveled to more than 65 countries, every continent except Antarctica, speak 10 languages, and we are happy to share this enormous amount of relevant knowledge with you. Every staff member has studied and/or lived abroad for extended periods of time. We are neither a language school nor a travel agent, we're a hybrid of the two: a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer, and our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of these programs. Our pledge to our participants is to make going abroad 'worry-free'. There is no risk in choosing an AmeriSpan program because you'll get the best program, best price and can cancel for any reason and get a full refund on every dollar we have received for your program.
