  • Description

This Andalusian city of 260,000 inhabitants is situated in southern Spain among the snow-covered mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the desert landscape of Tabernes, and the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol. It is also the third largest university city and exudes a lively atmosphere, from Flamenco in the streets to year-round cultural programs in: music, dance, theater, and cinema. The most distinguishing landmark is the Alhambra, one of the seven wonders of the world. The city's southern-style Spanish architecture is as heavily influenced by the Moors as its way of life is influenced by Andalusian flamenco and dance traditions.

Our partner school is located in the center of town, a 3 minute walk from the 'Palacio de los Congresos,' and only 15 minutes from the Alhambra. All classrooms have windows and are air-conditioned (essential in the summer time!). There is also a large common room with audio-visual equipment for the students' use.

School Facilities: In the town center,5 minutes from Palacio de Congresos and 15 minutes from the Alhambra and AlbaicĂn. Refurbished colonial building. 9 classrooms common room, study hall with internet access (free), TVs and audio-visual equipment for use by the students. Capacity is 130 students/day.

Participants: Mixed European, Asian and American. Half are university age, most others 25-35.

  • Highlights

From its dazzling beaches to its ancient castles, Spain is a country as diverse as the cultures which have influenced its art, architecture, music and lifestyle. It is a land where cathedrals and castles are interspersed with skyscrapers, where modern rock mixes with flamenco guitar and night clubs compete with cozy 'tapas' bars. Spain offers some of the world's most famous museums, resorts, and festivals, making it a unique and enchanting destination.
