Location
Costa Rica: Heredia

Term
Throughout the year

Dates
New classes begin each month

  • Description

    Heredia (population 50,000) is located 6 miles north of San Jose. The city and its surrounding areas provide all the conveniences of a medium-sized city in an environment, which has escaped, to a large extent, the normal urban problems affecting the capital. The city has a surprisingly youthful and active feel despite its small size. This is due to the presence of the many young Costa Ricans attending the local university. Many of Costa Rica's famous coffee plantations surround Heredia where one can still see ox-carts loaded with beans from our plantations.

    Occupying a Spanish colonial-style house, our partner school is centrally located allowing students easy access to transportation, shops and entertainment. In addition, classes are offered at Jaco Beach (usually the last week of each month).

    * 4 hours daily instruction (20 hrs/week)
    * Small group instruction (max 6)

  • Highlights

    Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with many national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches and more rivers and water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Colombian Indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
