The program takes place in this captivating Andalusian city of Granada, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and only 45 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea. Granada, the cradle of many diverse cultures and civilizations, was home to important prehistoric settlements, including the Phoenician, Iberian, Roman, Visigoth and Arab civilizations. To this day, the Moorish majesty of the Alhambra Citadel and Palaces dominate the city. Intellectuals, poets, musicians and travelers, such as Hemingway and Washington Irving, have praised this incredible city where the Christian, Arab and Jewish cultures intermingle and keep inspiring all those who come and live there.
The Granada Semester Program has been designed so that participating students experience life in Granada, as well as, Madrid and other Spanish cities. After the first five weeks in Granada, students travel to Madrid for an art course, where they have classes not in a classroom setting but in museums, monuments, streets, restaurants, parks, etc.
Students participating in the program will earn between 15 and 18 semester credit hours: 6 to 9 of Spanish at their own level, plus another 6 to 9 semester credits in courses taught in English. Past courses in English have included Comparative Religion, Ethnicity and Race, Tourism Management, English Drama, and Art. No prior study in Spanish is required for participation in the program. Class offerings depend on faculty availability and student enrollment.

Our mantra is "Every Language, Every Culture, Everywhere." AmeriSpan Study Abroad has over 15 years experience and over 30,000 past participants. Our staff has three passions: language, culture, and travel. Individually and as a group, we have accumulated experiences and knowledge related to these passions. AmeriSpan's staff has traveled to more than 65 countries, every continent except Antarctica, speak 10 languages, and we are happy to share this enormous amount of relevant knowledge with you. Every staff member has studied and/or lived abroad for extended periods of time. We are neither a language school nor a travel agent, we're a hybrid of the two: a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer, and our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of these programs. Our pledge to our participants is to make going abroad 'worry-free'. There is no risk in choosing an AmeriSpan program because you'll get the best program, best price and can cancel for any reason and get a full refund on every dollar we have received for your program.
