    The CAMES summer program in the Arabic language offers intensive courses at seven different levels: Introductory, High Introductory, Low Intermediate, Intermediate, High Intermediate, Advanced and Superior. The program emphasizes the instruction of the Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha). The total of 186 hours of MSA and Colloquial Lebanese Arabic instruction is the equivalent of 9 credit hours at the American University of Beirut, which may be transferred to other universities. The program is very demanding; daily attendance is mandatory and a high level of commitment is required from students. A typical day at the CAMES summer Arabic program consists of about 6 hours of classroom instruction (MSA and Colloquial), in addition to a minimum of 4-5 hours of homework.
