The American Institute For Foreign Study, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of a new au pair program, EduCare in America. EduCare in America is a cost effective program for American families with school age children who require up to 30 hours per week of child care. The EduCare participant will provide care in the early morning hours before the children go to school and afternoon and evening hours after they come home. The EduCare in America program offers the same quality service, intercultural richness and reliable source of quality in-home child care that has been provided to thousands of families through the Au Pair in America program for the past 15 years.
EduCare participants can provide care up to 30 hours per week, no more than 10 hours per day, to full-time school age children. The care responsibilities are the same as for those on the Au Pair in America program. It is expected Host Families will require care during the early morning hours and after school hours, leaving time during the day when the EduCare participant can attend classes. Weekend and evening care is appropriate within the 30 hour per week, 10 hour per day, limit. They provide a private bedroom and all of the benefits and considerations as is expected of Au Pair in America host families. The cultural exchange experience for the whole family that results from sharing day to day life with a young foreign national will be further enhanced by welcoming an EduCare participant who can serve as a positive role model, as she studies for her courses and shares her talents and interests along with the children she is caring for.
Must be between 18 and 26 years old (Au Pair Extraordinary candidates are at least 19). Have at least 200 hours of recent, practical child care experience such as regular babysitting for non family members, assisting at a local school or youth group and enjoy working with young children. Speak English to an acceptable standard, have a secondary school diploma or equivalent and may have completed some university-level course work. Submit a medical report prior to entering the U.S. Possess a valid driver's license. In countries where attainable, au pairs will hold an international driver's license. Au pairs may also be required to obtain a license in your state. Have successfully passed a background investigation which verifies schooling and references and includes a psychometric test and criminal record check (where available within the scope of the laws of a given country).
