During your time abroad you will earn up to 9 credits at Richmond, The American International University in London, a U.S. and U.K. dually accredited institution - choose from a multitude of courses on the Traditional Program, or get an extra jump start on your post-grad resume with a career-building Internship Program.
Central London is just outside your door when you are living in AIFS residence halls in South Kensington, steps from Kensington Palace, the Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park. Hop on the Tube and visit Covent Garden, Camden Market (where you can buy vintage clothes and jewelry at a bargain) or Piccadilly Circus. See some of the worlds finest works of art at the National Gallery and then watch the sunset at Trafalgar Square while listening to street musicians.
Both options offer an extensive program of cultural activities in and around London.
Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of British life the AIFS Resident Director organizes an active social and cultural program. Last years activities included:
* Jack the Ripper and Beatles walking tours
* Rugby and cricket matches
* Trip on the London Eye
* Free guided city toursee Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London
* Day trips to Stonehenge and Salisbury, Oxford, Cambridge and Brighton
* Museum visits
* Visit to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, plus theater events such as The Lion King, Chicago and Macbeth in Regents Park outdoor theater
These events are subsidized from student fees so students typically pay only USD 25 for a day trip to Stonehenge and Salisbury (worth USD 60) or a West End theater ticket (worth up to USD 50).
Beside arranged activities, there are a wide range of events taking place in and around London during the summer, such as the Trooping of the Color, the Ascot races, Wimbledon tennis tournament, Henley Royal Regatta, rock concerts, theater in the parks and much more. Information on these events will be available through the Student Services office on-site.
