    Jump-start your resume with our career-oriented International Internship Program in England. London is just a short ride's reach if you are housed in AIFS residence halls at South Kensington, a few steps from the Kensington Palace, the Hyde Park, and the Royal Albert Hall. Or, you can hop on the Tube and explore Covent Gardens, the Piccadilly Circus, or the Camden Market, where you can rummage on jewelry and vintage clothes. Check out some of the grandest art works at the National Gallery or witness the sunset right at Trafalgar Square while listening to musicians performing on the streets.

    AIFS students have interned at companies such as E! Enterntainment, CNBC Europe, Radisson Edwardian Hotels, Sotheby's, and the Travel Channel. In addition to the interships, students take the required Contemporary British Culture course and have the option of taking one or two additional courses.

    - Spend a summer interning in London while earning academic credit
    - Open to college juniors and seniors currently enrolled in full-time degree programs and with at least 75 semester credits (105 quarter credits)
    - 2.75 minimum GPA required (3.0 for students seeking a placement in finance or psychology)
    - Internships are in multi-national companies and London-based commercial, cultural and public sector organizations
    - The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
    - Transcripts issued by Richmond, The American International University in London, a U.S.-accredited university
    - Visa required at student's expense

  • Highlights

    The International Internship Program is designed to provide an integrated learning experience of a high academic standard, combining classroom study and an internship placement for a total of 9 semester credits. Students will spend 50% of their time in the workplace and 50% in classroom-based study and research. The internship program consists of a Contemporary British Culture course, internship seminars and an unpaid internship running alongside classroom study, with regular academic analysis of workplace issues.

    First three weeks Students take a required social science course, Contemporary British Culture (SSC 323) that meets three days a week and continues on Fridays and selected evenings during the placement. Students must also be available for interviews Monday through Friday during these three weeks.

    Following eight weeks Internship placements, continuation of SSC 323, classroom-based seminars to examine workplace issues, meetings with advisor to discuss research paper and presentations on internships.

    Final week Continuation of SSC 323, seminars, submission of final paper and journal entries

  • Qualifications

    The AIFS London Internship program is open to college juniors and seniors currently enrolled in a full-time degree program. Students must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher (3.0 for students seeking a placement in finance or psychology) and at least 75 semester credits (105 quarter credits) by the time of admission.

    Fee includes:
    - Tuition - 6 credits for an unpaid internship, with the approval of your college or university, plus 6 credits for the Contemporary British Culture course (3) and European Business Environment course (3)
    - Housing in twin or triple rooms in University-approved residence halls (a limited number of single rooms are available for an additional fee)
    - Meal allowance to subsidize breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday
    - Cultural activities such as: walking tours, theater visits and day trips
    - Services of the Richmond Internship Office, advice and workshops on resume presentation and interview skills
