Study in Italy's wondrous city--Florence! The city is center to art, architecture, and history that flourished during the Renaissance period. Immerse yourself in the community and not just being a tourist. This program provides you a comfortable Florentine apartment or live amongst the locals and enjoy your AIFS meal vouchers in fabulous cafes and restaurants. Taste the fantastic culinary appeal of Italian culture through cooking classes and wine-tasting.
AIFS students take courses taught in English in art history, economics, history, literature, marketing, music, photography, political science, studio art and internships. All students take Italian language classes, which are offered at all levels. Internships and independent study can be arranged. Transfer of credits is through the sponsoring institution, Richmond, The American International University in London, a U.S.-accredited university. Richmond's study center is a restored 16th-century palace close to the Ponte Vecchio. It has classrooms, a student lounge and reading room, and computer labs.
AIFS fees include the basics and the extras: tuition, housing, some meals, London visit, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, trips to Venice and Rome, and more.
In Florence, artistic, cultural and historic richness is ever present. With the Pitti Palace, Piazza della Signoria, Accademia and San Marco creating a wonderful backdrop, it is no surprise that walking along the Arno River you come across artists attempting to capture this beautiful city.
During your time abroad you will earn up to 17 credits on the Traditional Program tailored to students who want to study art history, studio art, Italian language and Italian studies or get an extra jump start on your post-graduate resumé on the career-building International Internship Program.
Take in the sites in and around Florence on visits to museums, art galleries, churches and theaters. Explore more of Italy on excursions to Rome and Venice. Travel on the Optional AIFS Flight Package and begin your trip with a 3-day excursion to London, England en route to orientation.
