The Alliance currently offers the following academic programs in Manipal, Pune, and Varanasi, India:
* Public Health and Indian Studies -- hosted by Manipal University. This program offers two tracks that address the most pressing public health issues facing India today and a multi-disciplinary array of courses focused on Indian society, philosophy, politics, and media. All courses are direct-enroll alongside Indian students in the university, and public health courses include field-based practicum and regular visits to rural health clinics and the university hospital.
* Contemporary India -- Based in forward-thinking Pune, this program introduces U.S. undergraduates to some of the most dynamic, exciting areas of Indian society, politics, economics, and culture today, with an emphasis on development studies. Students participate in internships, directed research, or documentary film-making that provide hands-on experience and interaction with the local community on a topic of interest.
* Varanasi: The City, the River, the Sacred -- This program allows students to examine the intersections between religious life, urban studies, and the environment in contemporary India. Hindi or Urdu language is required in the curriculum to enable students to better complete their individualized culture in practice fieldwork, which can be an internship, apprenticeship, or directed research project.
* Internships Available in Pune and Varanasi
Pre-Requisites:
3.0 minimum GPA.
Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited U.S. institution.
Permission from the home institution to study abroad.
No prior knowledge of Hindi is required.
In all, the Alliance seeks to turn highly-motivated, adventurous U.S. undergraduates into sensitive and sophisticated global citizens, with a nuanced understanding of complex international, regional, and local issues in India.
* Internships Available! Students are placed within forward-thinking NGOs, development agencies, and research institutes.
* Individualized Fieldwork! Students may complete directed research projects, artistic apprenticeships, or documentary film-making, paired with a faculty member or other expert in the area of their interest.
* Small, intellectually rigorous classes taught exclusively by Indian university professors and experts in the field
* On-site Resident Directors
* Field Study Trip to nearby urban and rural locations
* Numerous local activities, events, and excursions
* A range of housing options from apartments shared with Indian roommates, to semi-independent living arrangements with Indian families.
The program price includes tuition and fees, housing, some meals, pre-departure materials, student visa authorizations, orientation, organized activities, field study trips, course materials, the services of a full-time resident staff, and medical/evacuation insurance. The program price does not include airfare to India, most meals, passport and consular visa fees, independent travel, and other items not mentioned as included.

The Alliance offers scholarships ranging from USD 500 - USD 4,500, awarded according to financial need. Students from non-traditional majors or minority backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Please contact visit the Alliance website for more information.
