  • Description

AIDE Abroad's Teach Spain program offers an affordable way to experience Spanish culture from a local perspective. AIDE Abroad's Teach Spain program allows you to live with a Spanish family and teach English or your native language (German, French, Italian, or Mandarin Chinese) in exchange for room and board!* Teach Spain provides you with the opportunity to gain experience teaching a foreign language while discovering Spanish culture. You will teach an average of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, providing lessons and conversation in your native language. The lessons may be more or less formal, depending upon the family. You will have weekends and the rest of the time free to sight see, learn about Spanish culture, and make new friends! Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the exquisite culture of Spain

Teach Spain placements can be found throughout Spain, although most are concentrated in Madrid, including the surrounding suburban areas. Please be prepared to take public transportation into the city if you are placed in the suburbs; it should take you no longer than 1 hour to the center of the city.

We also offer in-country Spanish courses for those who want to improve their Spanish skills while participating in this teach abroad program.

*Please note that although this program is not paid, you receive room and board in exchange for 15 hours of language training or coaching per week.

  • Highlights

    Orientation:
AIDE Abroad will send participants pre-departure orientation materials to help them prepare for their time in Spain, as well as provide suggestions on teaching ESL. We also recommend that participants research ESL teaching methods and lesson plans so that they are well-prepared upon their arrival.

    Network of Friends:
Throughout their stays, participants will be provided with the name and email addresses of the other Language Assistants in the area. This offers participants a network of people they can ask for advice, socialize with, or travel around Spain with.

We also recommend that participants take Spanish language classes during their stay in Spain. Not only will they significantly enhance your ability to communicate, but you will also meet others from around the world!
