AiCenter Study-Tour in China is a unique program combining travel with an immersion study regime in Chinese language and exploration of a range of Chinese music, painting, calligraphy, culinary and martial arts. (Besides learning, adults will teach some classes in a language exchange arrangement with Chinese participants.)
Based in the capital city Beijing and the Hebei Municipality of Shijiazhuang, participants will travel around China's north central plains. Designed as a mixed field-study group for adults and youth (12 and up), this program will offer classes at the Chaoyang Foreign Language School (in Beijing) and the Shijiazhuang Foreign Language School and a countryside sojourn with the Baoding Big Black Bear Acrobatic School. In addition to a schedule of classes, daily life activities with host families and local language partners will provide a full immersion in the everyday life of Chinese citizens.
Participants will attend daily lesson in Mandarin Chinese and one or two elective art/music subjects. Adult participants will be set up to teach or conduct language-exchange sessions with Chinese students. In addition, planned activities with local Chinese will immerse participants in the rhythm of life and culture in China. Twice weekly demo-workshops or visit to factories and worksites will expose participants to a diversity of industries in China, such as performing arts, advertising, farming, handicraft and manufacturing.
Circling around the northern Yellow River, Shijiazhuang City offers highlights as the 2nd century BC Han Tombs at the Hebei Provincial Museum and the Tang Dynasty Pilu Temple with magnificent architectural preserves. To the south is the Zhaozhou Bridge, reputedly the oldest stone single arch in the word and to the west the senic Cangyan Mountains. In the prefecture division of Baoding, participants will explore the northern farmlands as well as some of the oldest relics in north China, most notably the Zhili mansion, the Ancient Lotus pool and the western Qing Tombs. Finally, in the capital city of Beijing, participants will visit the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Olympic Village and a walking tour around Old Beijing.

* Mid-term outdoor picnic - A BBq picnic will be held for all participants, staff and host families featuring international fare and a talent contest.
