Hike, ski, or relax on the beach just a short trip from the city center. Experience the historic architectural sites as well as the contemporary music concerts, theater, and exhibitions. Language classes take place at the Curso de Lengua y Cultura EspaƱolas para Extranjeros (ELE) on the university campus. Immerse yourself in Spanish language, culture, and history.

  • Highlights

These two four-week language intensive programs are designed for beginning- through advanced-level Spanish language students. All courses are taught in Spanish and emphasize reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In addition to the intensive language courses, students choose from several special topics options that focus on Spanish society and culture.

This program is designed to help heritage students discover and develop their inherent linguistic abilities. Heritage students will learn to maintain and improve Spanish knowledge and apply reading and writing skills acquired in English into the Spanish language. All courses are taught in Spanish, and you will be in class exclusively with other heritage students in this vibrant academic atmosphere. Students will live with a host family in Oviedo which will further assist in the speed of cultural immersion. Homestays in Oviedo are carefully selected to fit the needs of all students. In-class learning is complemented by field trips, guided visits, and other group activities included in the program fee. This AHA summer program offers full support for students and is preceded by an intensive orientation.
