* Fuels - primary energy is a base for the development and even the existence of contemporary economies.
* Production and use of fuels - need to follow the sustainability principles to be acceptable in the longer term.
Students of the course gain the competence and knowledge in the fields of fuels technologies and the analyses of their production and use. Subjects studied are within two groups: bases of fuels technologies and principles of the energy systems analyses and development. The former group has such subjects as: engineering of chemical reactors, surface phenomena and industrial catalytic processes, physics of energy transformation, basics of biotechnology, batteries and fuel cells and environmental protection in chemical processes. The latter group are the following subjects: modelling and planning in energy systems, energy markets and policy, energy and environment.
Classes, laboratories and projects dominate in the teaching, giving practical competence for the application of the acquired knowledge. The graduate is prepared to analyse and optimise the processes of fuels production and use with regard to technical, economic and environmental issues.
International environment, beautiful city, in-demand skills and knowledge.

AGH-UST, established on 20th October 1919, until 1949 known as the Academy of Mining, founded after long-lasting endeavours which had started in 1782, the year when the Ore Commission was established, has been continuing the traditions of the Academy of Mining in Kielce (1816-1827), inaugurated by StanisBaw Staszic. The University, being a technical school, serves the science and industry through educating students, the development of academic staff, as well as research and development. The University cherishes its traditions and educates its students to be honest and responsible people both at work, and as members of the society, according to its motto: "Labore creata, labori et scientiae servio" (Created in labour, I serve labour and science.)
