  • Description

    You will have the opportunity to assist with big cat research and conservation in the heart of the Namibian bush. Alongside local conservationists, you will assist with the capture, rehabilitation, and release of cheetahs and leopards. You will also work on general maintenance of the game reserve, in an effort to restore the over-farmed land to its original state. The vision of the project is to once again create a natural environment for the African big cats. As a volunteer, you will learn about big cat conservation and have a true African wildlife and bush experience.

    Exciting Daily Afternoon Game Drives you can expect to get involved in include:

    * Leopard Tracking and Monitoring
    * Big Cat Rescue and Release Programme
    * The Cheetah Welfare Programme at the rehabilitation centre
    * Cheetah and Hyena Tracking and Monitoring on Foot
    * Cheetah Rehabilitation Programme - Assist at the 20,000 hectare Cheetah Rehabilitation Area provides these cheetahs with the opportunity to hone their hunting skills and, ultimately, become self-sustaining.

    - Hyena tracking on foot

    On your day off you will have the chance to relax or continue exploring the reserve. The reserve's total expanse encompasses a 22,000 hectare (55,000 acre) operational private nature sanctuary. Wildlife to be seen, besides the cheetahs and leopards include: giraffe, oryx, kudu, zebra, impala, eland, wildebeest, red hartebeest, duiker, steenbok, dik-dik, and warthog.
