After a three-week Spanish course, you and your group will go to the cloud forest at Santa Lucia for four weeks work cutting canes and making panela (sugar), helping to make shade-grown coffee the traditional way, helping in the organic garden that provides most of the food for the volunteers and guests and clearing paths in the forest that are essential for access, maintenance and bird watching (over 390 species, including toucans, tanigers, cotingas and the famous Cock of the Rock).
You will then have about four weeks of independent travel to explore more of Ecuador and Latin America, all with 24 hour in-country support from our local representative.
Opportunity to perfect your Spanish and get involved in conservation and helping eco-tourism. Experience city life, a remote cloud forest location with hands on conservation work and time for travel all in one project!
Volunteers must be able to speak English, be enthusiastic, adaptable, committed and resilient (and have a sense of humor!). A basic knowledge of Spanish would also be useful.
