Typical Duration of Program

This program combines 4 weeks travel and 8 weeks voluntary work. The journey to the mountains of India offers a bit of everything. From the hectic streets of Delhi, the beauty of Taj Mahal, the holy water of the Ganges River, a varied wildlife, Himalayan grandeur to the silence in a Tibetan monastery. Volunteering in a small mountain village in West Bengal brings you fully into the daily life of the spiritual, warm Indian population. Depending on travel time you will see either colour or light festival.
If you visited India once, you will return - again and again.
Highlight of the trip is the amazing trek in the Himalayas. Trekking tour starts in Darjeeling with stops in Pulbazaar. 5 days with amazing nature and plenty of fresh mountain air. During the trip we enjoy the sight of monks, rhododendron forests, tea flowers and above all the landscape and the breathtaking scenery with snow-clad Himalayan peaks in the background.
The voluntary work takes place in a small village near the old colonial city of Darjeeling in West Bengal. In 1835, Darjeeling was given to the East India Company by the King of Sikkim. It became a popular resort for the British who wanted to escape from the sweltering heat of the plains. Today the city has many beautiful colonial buildings, restaurants, internet cafes and shops. Moving up the hills towards the city you will see lush green tea gardens, trees, flowering plants and snow-capped mountains in the background. Here you will teach English in local schools and take of the many children who comes from a poor environment.
