The Chornohora Ridge is not only the highest, but also one of the most impressive and beautiful places in the Carpathians. There is no forest near the peaks because of the altitude, so you can see the scenery from the top of a mountain pretty well. Snow usually does not lie here all the year round, but it sometimes happens that there is snow in some places even in summer. Trekking Chornohora brings huge pleasure, but it requires good preparation and equipment.
Tour timetable:
Day 1. Lazeshchyna vilage Petros 2020,2 m.
The route begins from the village Lazeshchyna, we walk along the river Studenyi to the sheds where shepherds live in summer. You will get the chance to taste the real Carpathian brynza (a special type of cheese) and to drink the milk of sheep. Then you will try yourself at climbing the mountain Petros. After descending from the top we will camp out at the spring to stay there overnight.
Day 2. Petros 2020,2 m. Hoverla 2060,8 m. Breskul 1911,5 m. Pozhyzhevska 1822,2 m. Turkul 1933,2 m.the Nesamovyte Lake
This day you will get a wonderful possibility to stand your feet on the peak of the highest mountain of the Ukrainian Carpathians (Hoverla). Then we plan to show you the Nesamovyte Lake (an approximate translation would be the Raving Lake), which is the pearl of Ukrainian Carpathians. You will find yourself on the tops of such mountains as Pozhyzhewska and Turkul on your way. The night is going to be spent at the bank of this picturesque lake.
Day 3. The Nesamovyte / Raving Lake Brebeneskul 2035,8 m. Dzembronya 1877,7 m.
The path runs through the ridge. We will climb Brebeneskul, then one more mountain, Dzembronya. Then it is convenient to go to the riverbank to camp out. But if there is time, the journey may continue further. We may go to a pillar-landmark, descent to the river and stay there overnight.
Day 4. Dzembronya 1877,7 m. Chorna Hora (Pip Ivan) / Black Mountain 2028,5 m he Maricheyka Lake
This day one more mountain waits for you. It is called Chorna Hora, that means Black Mountain in translation. There you can also see the ruins of the old observatory. The route goes to the lake Maricheyka; you will walk down to it to have a sleep.
Day 5. The Maricheyka Lake CP at the river Chornyy / Black Cheremosh
This is already way home. It is not supposed to be hard, so you do not climb any mountain, you just hike along the path, which gradually becomes a cart-road.
