  • Description

    Work in a government attorneys busy office, located in the city center of Montevideo. The office is a prestigious one and our candidate will be the only foreign intern there, with plenty to absorb and much to learn. Sectors include Maritime Law, Contract Law, Labor and Union Law, International Law. Candidates must have intermediate Spanish level or better and have taken their LSAT exams. 3 months or longer is the stated minimum for this placement. However, 2 month candidates may be accepted on a case by case basis.

  • Highlights

    * The amount of time you choose to intern is flexible, with program lengths ranging from 3 to 12 months.
    * This can be a non-academic or academic internship - you decide.  All candidates who have sought to receive credit for this program have done so.  
    * Extensive Pre-Departure Orientation and counseling
    * You will be met at the airport when you arrive in Montevideo, and taken directly to your housing
    * 3 weeks, 4 hours per day, of intensive Spanish language classes are included in the fee
    * 2 - 3 excursions are included during your intensive Spanish coursework.
    * This program is designed to be 50% work experience and 50% cultural / language acquisition and immersion.  
    * Housing is included. Live like a local in a shared apartment with other Adelante candidates, or choose the homestay option, living with local Uruguayans, meals included (inquire for price difference).
    * Internship positions are for 4 hours each day, 5 days a week in a local Uruguayan company. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume.
    * The Adelante Director in Montevideo is English-speaking and is available to you for support and assistance should you need it.

  • Qualifications

    Program candidates should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture. Candidates must have intermediate Spanish level or better and have taken their LSAT exams.

    Qualities required are: dependability for your work assignment, courage for your international living abroad experience and openness to all the new people and experiences you will encounter.

    - Airport pickup on arrival.
    - Housing for duration of program - own private room in shared apartment, or homestay option (inquire for price as this option includes meals and laundry).
    - 3 weeks of intensive Spanish language classes.
    - Some excursions included during first 3 weeks.
    - Internship placement in chosen sector.
    - English speaking staff in-country and in the USA for support if needed.
