Ace Marine Images was formed over 12 years ago by Chris Clarke and was the first underwater production company in Thailand, focusing on making great souvenir films for divers in Thailand. The business has seen some changes over the years but underwater imagery is still at our core. Our team is made up of daily film makers who still offer Koh Tao divers souvenir films, graphic designers, photographers, journalists, post production whizz kids and technical and recreational scuba instructors. We create, produce, design, teach and publish and constantly move forward, making your learning environment a dynamic one.

With several documentaries behind us, we are currently embarking on our most adventurous one yet, following the exploration of the Gulf of Thailand and deep water wreck discovery.

Our SSI photography and videography courses are taught by the people who have published and produced their own material, you will really get the benefit of all this experience and soak up the input from others within the team - everyone joins in!
We wrote the original outline for SSI Pro Underwater Video and currently are the only SSI Educational Facility in the world capable of, and authorized to teach this groundbreaking course. We are now updating the original videography course, as well as writing a new photography course!

The SSI courses are made up of 3-4 land sessions and 8 dives and are practically focused. You will have a camera in your hand within minutes and be undertaking assignments which will build your skills and creativity constantly. Water sessions start with the basics and build, our underwater photography and film instructors are all very experienced divers and dive instructors too, so your diving skills will develop hand in hand with your image creation skills. Our aim is to produce excellent divers and excellent image makers, the course gives you all the foundation that you need to progress and improve.

We have two levels of course, the initial one being the Advanced Level and the subsequent being the Professional Level. Entry to the Advanced level does not require any previous photo or film experience - Advanced is simply the level you will have upon completion. You should at least be on Open Water diver to start this course, but if you do not have a scuba certification - we can do that first too. If you are open water and would like to progress to an advanced level we can easily build this certification into your course too. The professional levels are aimed at underwater filmers and photographers who want to grow their skills with a view to gaining a higher level of expertise.

ACE Marine Images also offers an internship, for those wanting to learn more day to day stuff from our team of professional videographers, and getting a chance to make some money selling videos at local dive shops.

Highlights

Using skills learned in the SSI Underwater Video course to film divers at local dive shops, and earn a living while learning more in-depth filming and editing techniques. ACE Marine Images works with several dive shops and film both students and certified divers, with an aim to provide them with top notch, quality DVDs as a souvenir.

Additionally to all of this, ACE Marine Images is also a research unit for Whale Sharks. Working with some of the leading global researchers we track and log Whale Shark sightings in the Gulf of Thailand and fed them into our own and global databases. This allows more research to be made into the migratory routes and breeding habits of this amazing sea creature. This is something that you can be a part of too, during your time with us.
