ASA offers programs at three different universities in Barcelona, so whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, we have a program for you! With housing, meals, health insurance, excursions, laundry, tutoring, tuition, official transcript, cell phone and much more included in the cost of the program, we strive to make your experience in Barcelona the best time of your life. A prosperous city of almost 2 million, Barcelona is one of the oldest cities in Europe, but yet one of the most progressive cities in Spain. The university is located in the city center and near major shopping, eating, and sightseeing areas. With the beach on one side of the city and the mountains on the other, it doesn't get much better than this!
Located on the coast of the Mediterranean, this port city has always been a major center of trade. Barcelona is full of beautiful parks, wonderful architecture and all the art anyone could ever hope for. Mountains and beach surround the city, with breathtaking cliffs along the eastern coastline. The architecture in Barcelona ranges from medieval gothic castles to the surreal mosaic buildings left by Gaudy. The Barri Gytic (Gothic Quarter) is filled with ancient corners and wonderful buildings that contain glimpses of life in Barcelona going as far back as 1141. The Catalonian Gothic sculptures of the 13th-15th centuries began the notable artistic accomplishments of this region. The long traditions of painting and sculpting in this town have brought fame to the area. Best known for the surreal and cubist artists Picasso, Daly, and Miry, Barcelona has plenty for both casual observers and art lovers alike.
