  • Description

UCSD Global Seminars are five week-long study abroad experiences that bring the country into the classroom! Students enroll in two course taught by a UCSD professor. All courses are taught in English and class sizes are between 15-25 students, so there are excellent opportunities for one-on-one interaction with some of the best faculty at UCSD. The programs also include educational cultural activities, day trips and excursions!

  • Highlights

This program offers a unique opportunity to learn about the music, culture and dialect of Andalusia. The program offers two upper-division courses: one on Spanish Dialectology and the other on the structure, history, and culture of flamenco. Cadiz, a charming small city in the south of Spain, is the oldest in Western Europe. It is an ideal setting for these courses: the local Spanish dialects were instrumental in the development of Latin American Spanish; Cadiz was also the cradle of flamenco. The program includes excursions throughout southern Spain and flamenco performances in several different venues, featuring top artists.
