Chile's tremendous range covers a hugely diverse array of landscapes, from the desolate moonscape of Chile's Atacama Desert, to the fertile vineyards of the Central Valley, to the lush rainforests of the Lake District, down to the magnificent glaciers and peaks of Patagonia -- not to mention more than 3,000 miles of coastline and Easter Island. It's truly mind-boggling to think of how many different experiences one can have in this diverse South American nation. API offers programs in two magnificent Chilean cities - Valparaíso and Viña del Mar.

Highlights

Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Valparaiso boasts a labyrinth of streets and cobblestone alleyways, embodying a rich architectural and cultural legacy. Nicknamed "The Jewel of the Pacific", Valparaiso was declared a UN ESCO world heritage site based upon its improvised urban design and unique architecture. Offering strikingly beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean from the top of its numerous hills, it is reminiscent of San Francisco. API students take classes at Pontifícia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso or at the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria. Both universities are highly regarded as two of the best in Chile.

Neighboring Valparaiso, Vina del Mar is built on the land of two former estates and is known for its beautiful beaches. The city of Vina del Mar is often called the "Garden City" but is also known as a university town. It is a safe and relaxed city where visiting international students can take Spanish language courses in combination with Chilean culture courses, or directly enroll in a variety of classes with local students.
