As a Public Education Intern you will be part of a team professionals at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) working to foster and promote human rights in Ghana. You will assist the PE staff with outreach and education programmes in the Cape Coast area, including helping to create and give human rights talks, appearing on local radio and television stations and attending conferences on behalf of the Commission. You will also sit in on mediation sessions and may be required to accompany CHRAJ staff on monitoring and evaluation exercises throughout the region.
Appearing on local TV and radio, and participating in annual monitoring and evaluations of prisons, schools and hospitals.
We are looking for candidates with at least a Bachelor's degree in social sciences, law or education, or those who are currently enrolled in university.
Breakfast and dinner are provided at the house, 7 days a week. Rooms hold 1-2 people and the house shares 2 bathrooms. There is a communal kitchen, living area and terrace.
1) Programme Fee: All interns are housed at the Abusua Foundation house, and are provided with meals, accommodation, airport pick-up and drop-off, orientation and 24/7 emergency care support for a flat fee of USD 120 a week (this is the Programme Fee).
2) Confirmation Fee: This USD 500 fee secures the placement. It also pays for the placement set-up (going to the host organization and explaining the intern's background, etc.), donation to host organization (for their time teaching and training you), airport pick-up (getting the intern from Accra to Cape Coast, getting the staff member to and from Cape Coast, etc.).
