Looking to get an authentic experience of French culture? Want to meet people who will pick up on your accent américain and simply slow down their French rather than switch into English? Then St-Laurent-du-Var is the town for you! Located off the beaten path of mass tourism just twenty minutes west of Nice, this southern beach village offers the perfect introduction to French language and culture.

During your month in St-Laurent you will experience l'autentique vie quotidienne of Southern France. By sharing daily meals and plenty of lively conversation with your home stay family, you will get a genuine glimpse into the life of a typical famille laurentine. Weekday classes, daily activities, weekend excursions, day trips, and events are designed to complement your homestay experience in order to help you make the most of the French Rivera's famous summer lifestyle. Several weekly visits to neighboring Nice allow you to compare your newly-adopted suburban lifestyle to that of a larger city.

A la souuuuuuupe! From calling you to the dinner table to discussing the influence of American culture on present-day France your host family will be your greatest teachers of French language and culture. Though you live with your hosts for the entire four weeks in St-Laurent, on average, four evenings a week are dedicated for you to stay at home (eat and participate in familial activities) while the other evenings you can expect to be with the entire St-Laurent program group out and about town.

Abbey Road has a long-standing and close relationship with the St-Laurent community, and many of our hosts open their homes to Abbey Road students every summer (over 80% have been with us for over 5 years!). Your homestay, located in or near the bustling city center, is generally within walking distance of some of the best authentic cafés and restaurants the Riviera has to offer.

* Day Trips
St-Laurent is situated amidst some of the most beautiful and exciting places in France and you will get to know many of them as no tourist would. Each weekend (and on the occasional weekday afternoon) we will travel throughout the region so you can expand your knowledge of Southern France. You'll be sure to feel glamorous in Cannes and St. Tropez when you shop their chic boutiques during free time. You may get acquainted with French pop music when you mingle with locals in vibrant Juan les Pins. You may wonder at Picasso's rose period works and then refresh yourself with a gelato rose in incredible Antibes. No doubt you'll compare your experience snorkeling beneath the towering cliffs of Villefranche- sur-Mer against the paddle boat race you won in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. Ah, Paris! The city of lights! Delicious food, fantastic art, amazing architecture, the list goes on and on. A four-day visit to Paris is the perfect way to complete an Abbey Road adventure in France. Our exciting itinerary includes both guided visits to museums and historical sites and time for you to discover the city's famous neighborhoods. Sure we will show you the Louvre, the Muse d'Orsay, the Centre Pompidou, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower, among others, but you will also be free (within our safety guidelines) to enjoy the city's famous cafe scene and shopping districts with your good friends in tow. Who knows, you just might even take a dinner cruise on the river Seine!
