For students interested in studying abroad in Southeast Asia, World Endeavors Study in the Philippines program is hard to beat. This is one of the most affordable programs available at one of the leading universities in Southeast Asia. As all courses are taught in English, you will have the opportunity to earn US academic credit while continuing your studies in any of hundreds of courses from dozens of subject areas. You will live and study alongside Filipino and international students and can even choose to focus your study on Southeast Asian cultures and languages.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or equivalent to be eligible for the program.

Pre-Departure Information: Before participants embark, they will be provided a pre-departure guide that includes important details about their experience abroad. In addition, participants may contact World Endeavors at any time prior to departure with questions.

Back_topOrientation:

Orientation is provided.

After an airport pickup, volunteers are provided an orientation that will familiarize them with the campus and the surrounding area, the Philippine culture, and the academic program.

Back_topHousing:

Shared, furnished residence hall accommodations with no meals.

World Endeavors provides shared dormitory housing as a part of the program.  All rooms have a bed, desk, chair, microwave, air conditioner and refrigerator.  The dormitory complex is very convenient to the campus and provides 24 hour security.  Also available at the complex is a diner, gym/workout center, and many other facilities. 

The cost of electricity and other utilities are not included.  Cable and high-speed internet are included in the cost of the program.

The language of instruction for all courses is English. Experience with Tagalog, the Philippine national language is not required. Each student will take four courses for 3 credits each. Academic credit and transcripts will be issued by Jacksonville University, a fully-accredited Florida university.

Each student will take four courses for 3 credits each. Academic credit and transcripts will be issued by Jacksonville University, Florida, after the successful completion of course requirements for the semester program. It is the student's responsibility to contact their academic advisor prior to the semester to determine how courses taken abroad are transferable to their home institution.

Courses: Students can choose from hundreds courses across four schools: Arts and Letters, Social Sciences and Law, Management and Economics, and Science and Technology. Preliminary selection of courses occurs during the application process. Course selection will be finalized after arrival on campus.

There are many choices for food on campus. From the favorite fishballs to vegan fare, food sources vary from vendors, kiosks, snack bars to bake shops, canteens and restaurants, each with different specialties and price ranges.

Activities: In their free-time, participants can explore Manila, check their e-mail at an Internet Cafe, or participate in numerous clubs and activities on campus.
