“After spending nearly a month here in Tanzania, we have had too many experiences to recount in a short evaluation. We have met many people and formed relationships, learned survival Swahili and have eaten Ugali, which is our new favorite food. Everyday we take a daladala (minibus crammed up with up to 25 people) where we spend time with children, playing games, doing art projects and helping to cook Ugali. In a short two weeks, we have become as attached to the children as they are to us. They are helpful, obedient, intelligent and loving. Our only consolation in leaving these children is that we will be moving to another orphanage where we will be working for another three and 1/2 months.”

Spending time with the girls of the school allowed me to understand their culture and share their experiences. They welcomed me with song and dance which made me feel at home. After spending one week with them, felt a connection and saw them as my sisters. My stay at Olof Palme was a great experience and I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Africa through the eyes of the young girls.”
