Oxford TEFL

Darren Campbell

teacher

"I really enjoyed my four weeks at Oxford House. I found the input sessions useful in giving me a background in language awareness. I've built up a lot of teaching practice which has been confidence building. The support I got from the tutors was great, all the tutors are very approachable. Oxford House has good resources, friendly newly qualified teachers hanging round at different times of the day. I felt very comfortable, and also felt the underlying professionalism and organisation in the well structured course. I will recommend Oxford House to anyone thinking of doing their TESOL certificate."

Mark Blohm (USA), Cert. TESOL Course in Barcelona, September 2005

" I was concerned after completing the course that, as an American, I might be unable to find a job here in Barcelona. However, with the help of the careers service here at Oxford Tefl, I have secured some excellent teaching positions with good pay here in Barcelona. With their help, I am confident that I can remain in Barcelona for as long as I want. And, if I ever need help finding more work, I know that they will be here to guide me in my job search. "

David Serafino, Cert. TESOL Course in Barcelona, July 2004

" Hey Anna, so cool to hear from you--I'm still at that job in Thailand, in a town called Sriracha about 2 hours south of Bangkok. Anneli just took a job out here at the same school, but at different branch (she's in Thonburi, just outside Bangkok). I've got 50 kids in each class!!! it's completely insane. so if you've got any advice on activities to do with an unmanagably large class, send 'em along!"

Benjamin Rhatigan, (USA) Cert. TESOL Course in Barcelona, Dec. 2004

" Being a non-EU citizen made the job-hunt more complicated, but it was by no means impossible. I spent more time on the phone than some of my friends, personally dropped off more resumes, and definitely had some doors shut, but I also worked on my ingenuity, interviewing skills, etc. After putting up flyers, emailing resumes, visiting schools, making calls, and ensuring that I got face-time with employers, I now have a full schedule that I'm really happy with. Ultimately, employers are looking for someone with a lot of energy, a great personality, and someone who they know they can trust- all qualities that have nothing to do with nationality."

Jenni Grimshaw (UK), Cert. TESOL Course in Barcelona, January 2007

" I did the TESOL course in January 2007. The course was really wellÐorganised and the tutors were really helpful throughout the course. After the course had finished I asked the Careers Advisor to send out my CV to prospective schools in Barcelona. Within 24 hours I had received 3 or 4 calls regarding work, and within a week around 20 schools had contacted me; in fact I'm still getting calls! I found it really easy to find work (it found me), and I'm now combining teaching teenagers outside of the city four nights a week, and also teaching some in-company business English classes. I'm really enjoying teaching and now I don't want to leave Barcelona! Thank you Oxford House!"
