How To Help Cyclone Victims In Myanmar

With global attention turning to cyclone-struck Myanmar, volunteers from all over the world are wondering how they can help. Aid has been slow in getting to the victims -- which number about 1.5 million, according to the United Nations -- due to Myanmar's military government creating delays in getting humanitarian supplies and workers into the devastated Asian country.

Though difficult, it is possible to help the victims of Cyclone Nargis, which killed up to 100,000 people in Myanmar and left many more injured, homeless, and susceptible to malnutrition, injury, and disease.

International aid has been trickling into Myanmar, but the devastated country will need much more help - both in short-term emergency aid right now, and long-term aid as the citizens rebuild and recover from illness, food shortages, and other lasting effects of the cyclone.
