Naomi Reeh - 2015 Program Participant

Why did you decide to apply for an international program?

I applied for TEFL Worldwide Prague because I had a dream to travel, teach, and help people abroad. I had also studied abroad in Italy while in college and had a life-changing experience. TEFL Worldwide Prague provided me with an amazing opportunity to go back to Europe and reach my dreams abroad!

Why did you choose TEFL Worldwide Prague?

I chose TEFL Worldwide Prague because it is such a supportive program. TEFL Worldwide Prague provides job support to help you find a job after you finish the course, and they provide life-time job assistance for you in the future! You can always contact TEFL Worldwide Prague and they will be there to help you and support you in your journey teaching abroad. To see how much this program cared about and supported its students made it truly stand out to me!

What was the hardest part about seeking TEFL certification abroad?

Seeking TEFL certification abroad was very straightforward to me. TEFL Worldwide Prague seemed like the best TEFL certification! It was the most highly qualified and reviewed TEFL course that I found when doing research online.

What was your favorite part about the location of your program?

TEFL Worldwide Prague was outside of the city center, but the metro was very close to the school to provide quick and easy access to the city center!

What makes TEFL Worldwide Prague unique?

At TEFL Worldwide Prague you start teaching Czech students that are learning English on the second day of the course. This was challenging to jump right in, but you will get so much hands-on teaching experience throughout this course!

You will feel ready and prepared to go out into the world to be an English teacher after you finish your course at TEFL Worldwide Prague.

How did local staff support you throughout your program?

I was amazed at how supportive the professors and staff were at TEFL Worldwide Prague! They were always there if you needed help or had any questions. From living abroad to planning lessons, teaching, visas, CV's, cover letters, and applying for teaching jobs abroad, TEFL Worldwide Prague is there to completely support you!

How difficult was it to communicate with locals?

We had three Czech language lessons as part of the course at TEFL Worldwide Prague. This helped us greatly to communicate with the local people! It is always courteous to try and use the language of the country, and the locals really appreciate your effort! With the Czech lessons and a Czech phrasebook that I brought with me, I had no trouble communicating and getting around in Prague. Google translate can help you a lot too! If you are really having trouble communicating, you can ask locals if they speak English. They will try to help you as best they can. Many people in the Czech Republic know how to speak a little English.

What's one thing you wish you would have done differently?

I wish that I would have taken the TEFL Worldwide Prague course in June or July. Although language schools are looking for English teachers throughout the year and there are always many opportunities, I wanted to teach at a primary school abroad. When I finished my course in October most school positions were already full for the year.

Describe a day in the life of your program.

Every morning the TEFL Worldwide Prague school opens at 9 a.m. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. the professors are there to help you with your assignments and lesson planning. Classes start at 10 a.m. There is a break for lunch in the afternoon. After lunch there are more classes or you will have teaching practice. I thought TEFL Worldwide Prague had a great schedule!

What did you enjoy doing on your free time?

During the week, you will be busy with the course, but I loved being able to jump on the metro to go into the city center on the weekends! I loved going into the city center, walking, and experiencing the beauty and history of Prague.

What surprised you most about Prague?

Even though Prague is the biggest city and capital of the Czech Republic, it was simple to navigate the city. The metro only has three lines, which makes it very easy to get around. There are so many beautiful and historic things to see and experience in Prague!

What type of accommodation did you have? What did you like best about it?

I loved staying at the Hotel Pivovar right next to the TEFL Worldwide school. This was a great location to be right next to the school. You stay in simple flats, but it is everything that you need during your month long course in Prague.

Do you have any packing tips for individuals headed to Prague?

Try to pack as little as possible, trust me! You can buy all of your toiletries and any living supplies that you need when you are abroad. When you move abroad to get your TEFL certification and teach in a new country, it is very cumbersome to carry multiple bags of heavy luggage around with you! Keep it simple! I recommend taking a nice backpacking backpack and one suitcase with you.

What is one thing you wish you would have known before traveling to the Czech Republic?

Czech people are very nice once you get to know them, but they are not outgoing and friendly with strangers like Americans are. I wanted to smile and say hello to everyone, but this is not what they do in the Czech Republic.

Now that you're home, how has your time abroad impacted your life?

My time at TEFL Worldwide Prague has opened a lifetime of opportunities for me! I have gained valuable teaching experience that I can use at home in the United States and all over the world! I am truly grateful for my time in Prague; I grew more as a person and in my education.

If you were to go back and earn TEFL certification abroad in a different location, where would you go?

I absolutely enjoyed my certification at TEFL Worldwide Prague and learned so much! I only

have good things to say about the course! If I could do another TEFL certification, I would do the CAPS teaching program in Spain. This program fit my very specific teaching goals abroad: teaching in Spain, teaching children, and teaching at a Catholic school. I learned about this program at TEFL Worldwide Prague when I was looking at their listed job opportunities.

Would you recommend TEFL Worldwide Prague to other aspiring English teachers?

Absolutely! This is an amazing course that is supportive, hands-on, engaging, and very informative to help you become an English teacher abroad! The course is located in central Europe, which is a great location to be for a month while you are getting your TEFL certification. Their program has alumni teachers all over the world, and provides life-time job assistance! All of these qualities make it a truly outstanding TEFL program!
