GoAbroad Summer Internship Institute

GoAbroad.com is hiring for summer internship positions based out of our office in Fort Collins, CO. Interns will gain professional development and receive structured training, along with specific project-based work that will build their resume and portfolio. This is an excellent way to get experience in the competitive fields of International Education, Travel Writing, Programming, and Online Marketing.

Time Commitment:

  • 10 week program runs from June 9 - August 15, 2014
  • 40 hours per week (8:30AM - 5:00PM Monday - Friday with 30 minute lunch break)

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited institution
  • Previous international experience strongly preferred
  • Must have laptop computer to use in the office
  • Successful internship candidate is enthusiastic, task oriented, and creative
  • Must be able to work out of Fort Collins, CO office

Detailed Descriptions:

Content Intern

The successful candidate for this role will assist with web-content generation and outreach outreach initiatives to the travel and international education industries. The content intern will gain real-world professional experience through the creation of original professional content, content editing, developing strategic content campaigns, and working with leaders in travel and international education. In addition, the intern will complete projects related to the application and understanding of SEO and other research-based projects.

The position reports directly to the GoAbroad Content Manager.

Internship Responsibilities

  • Create and edit content for website
  • Write articles for GoAbroad
  • Write timely and engaging responses to trending topics and news
  • Contact study abroad alumni for reviews and interviews, including outreach and follow-up
  • Assist in editing internal and external articles including SEO, article feedback, and communicating with writers
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited institution
  • Previous international experience strongly preferred
  • Must have laptop computer to use in the office
  • Successful internship candidate is enthusiastic, task oriented, and creative

Life After Study Abroad Intern

Life After Study Abroad Magazine answers the question "You've Studied Abroad, Now What?" for study abroad alumni. This annual publication is available digitally and in print. The magazine was started in 2013 by two study abroad students who were experiencing reverse culture shock. This is a young, fun, and energetic company looking to continue its mission in supporting study abroad alumni.

Internship Responsibilities:

  • General: Social media, website, partner outreach, email marketing, editing
  • Gain commitment from universities to distribute 15,000 digital copies of the magazine
  • Create a content strategy to publish a new article weekly
  • Manage the leads as they come in and send out emails to specific students
  • Analyze analytics and make recommendations
  • Analyze digital magazine analytics and make recommendations

  • Competitor analysis of crowd-sourced fundraising platforms
  • Create ideas and strategy to further marketplace development

PR / Marketing Intern

The PR / Marketing Intern will assist with social media marketing and public relations outreach strategies, with the purpose of embodying the GoAbroad brand and representing it across various social media communities and through offline public relations. This person will learn more about online community management, content management skills, and public relations. The position reports directly to the GoAbroad Outreach Manager.

Online Marketing / Social Media Responsibilities:

  • Assist Outreach Manager with ongoing strategy on new ways to grow fans and followers across all social channels
  • Collaborate with the social media team in creation of editorial calendar and original content for GoAbroad’s social media channels
  • Assist with daily moderation of community interactions including, but not limited to: responding to comments, fostering dialogue, interacting with potential fans/followers
  • Inspire and support the social media team with examples, ideas, and copy
  • Help to enforce and further establish the GoAbroad brand voice
  • Collaborate with other GoAbroad staff and Content Managers to identify, collect, and develop content for social communities, GoAbroad Blog, and Articles Directory
  • Utilize social media tools (Hootsuite, SocialOomph, etc.) to conduct outreach for content
  • Monitor social media successes of competitive and relevant brands
  • Create monthly reports based on monitoring trends in travel/international education, social media tools, and emerging social platforms
  • Assist other departments with various tasks

PR / Outreach Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain media lists
  • Assist with community/university/partner outreach
  • Conducting outreach to potential social media campaign partners
  • Develop partnership proposals and send out emails and follow-ups

Requirements:

  • Working towards a degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, and/or Online Marketing, or related field
