It's Friday -- and time for GoAbroad's Blog of the Week! This week's selection is:
Journey Jottings
Getting ready for a holiday abroad anytime soon? Then you'll want to tune into the advice Journey Jottings has to share! This Blog of the Week offers tips and tricks to highlight your holiday adventures abroad, interspersed with post card type posts primarily about Australia. The author of the blog, Linda Fairbairn, founded Journey Jottings in 2003 when she came up with the idea of combining a Map with a Journal. Since that time, the Australia Map Journal has since been redrawn and is in its 5th edition. Linda notes that while "most maps tell you where to go, Journey Jottings tells you where you've been! Map Journals are visual keepsakes that summarize your trip by combining a hand-drawn pictorial map upon which to dot your trails, surrounded by boxes where there is space for jotting your tales." We love the concept already!
Why We Love It
According to Journey Jottings, no matter how exciting your trips, exotic the locations, or wild the adventures, memories have a way of fading. We're sure even the most well-traveled of our readers can relate to this. Spending time with your travel memories is like taking a mini-break, (as long as you can remember them!) which is where Journey Jottings comes in. In addition to the unique Map Journals, Mail-It Maps, and Puzzle Postcards found on Journey Jottings, the blog is a direct reflection of Linda's mission to help travelers savor their travel memories. In her own words, "We spend hours preparing to go away, days enjoying it, but we have the rest of our lives to relive that special time - providing we've jotted a few notes along the way to jog your memory."
It’s as simple as plotting your route on the map and jotting down your travel highlights, and the Journey Jottings blog combines resources to highlight your holiday adventures - utilizing a variety of ideas for taking traveller’s reminiscing to new horizons. With Journey Jottings on your side, travelers will learn new ways to turn travel memores into keepsakes - which will "always remind you of places visited, sights seen and adventures enjoyed," as Linda says. Be sure to check out Journey Jottings for more updates and explore GoAbroad for thousands of adventure travel opportunities!

Congratulations Linda for being selected! Having followed your blog for a while now it is great to see you get the recognition you deserve.
I think many travellers get daunted when trying to keep a full-on travel journal so, sadly, end up giving up on it –
My view is to keep the jotting of holiday memories *simple* so when in years to come that moment for nostalgia strikes you have ‘something’ (notes, doodles, mud-maps, ticket stubs) for jogging the memory ~
Thanks so much for featuring Journey Jottings as your Blog of the Week
Oh I love the sound of these journal jottings.
When ever I go back and read a page from one of my old travel journals the entire day’s memory comes flooding back, even though some memories are 20 years old.
