Glad to see Ghana make this list! Whether a person is planning on studying or volunteering abroad, West Africa is definitely a unique and wonderful place to visit.

Although participants on ThisWorldMusic’s UMASS accredited Study in Ghana program are there mostly to learn traditional Ghanaian drumming and dancing, we strongly encourage them to help out at the local village school. For those who want to stay on and volunteer after the program has concluded, we highly recommend Unite for Site, a non-profit that provides eye care worldwide to patients living in extreme poverty.
