The Mission
GoAbroad.com is committed to providing the most comprehensive international education and alternative travel databases. GoAbroad.com utilizes data driven programming to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information. In addition to some of the largest directories of their kind on the internet, GoAbroad.com provides extensive additional information within its dynamically constructed travel guides, currency converter, and embassy directories. GoAbroad.com is dedicated to providing this information in a clean and less-commercial format. Advertising space is limited and strategically placed for the most cohesive design. GoAbroad.com is a very user-friendly site, graphics are developed with load time as a priority, search directories and content are created as the market demands.
History
GoAbroad.com was launched to fill an information void in the area of international student travel. GoAbroad.com was conceptualized to provide a one-stop information center for students wishing to travel internationally. The site was created to link prospective travelers with organizations providing international opportunities.
The site was launched in February 1999. The site was developed following extensive market research. All of the information included within the listings was created as a result of that market research. Prospective travelers want to know about the program cost, the country of destination, e-mail contacts, extensive program descriptions, and user friendly search capabilities.
The site was conceptualized by a group of international educators. Troy Peden was the study abroad coordinator at the University of Colorado at Denver during the genesis of GoAbroad.com. Working with designer and programmer, Jason Coppage who was working in international broadcasting, the concept materialized. Several programmers were employed to develop a search engine for the future.
