Travel and Study Regulations to Cuba
Just in case you are not yet aware, there had been recent US Government regulations relating to study and travel to Cuba which took effect on June 30, 2004.
Many study abroad programs had been forced to temporarily cancel or suspend programs for the said country. While we are hoping that this would be lifted or
at least softened sometime in the future, many students are still unable to study there.
For the details of the new regulations, kindly visit the US Treasury Department website. The Office of Foreign Assets Control(OFAC) has posted the regulations
at http://www.treas.gov/offices/eotffc/ofac/actions/20040616.html.
Here is the regulation in summary:
Currently short-term programs (any program of less than 10 weeks duration) cannot be offered. This includes all formal courses, structured educational offerings,
and most teaching (unless you are a Cuban national). One of the few exceptions is for those engaged in graduate research.
Students are also not allowed to study in Cuba with any institution other than their own. This means that third party providers are no longer able to offer their
programs in Cuba. Students are only allowed to study in Cuba with an institution at which they are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. This
basically eliminates the possibility of studying in Cuba unless your school offers a licensed program.
As always, however, we recommend that you talk to your study abroad advisor for all the details and for information on what your school can offer you.

Many had been concerned about this regulation, specially those in the academic community that they formed the Cuba Academic Alliance. For more information, visit the Cuba Academic Alliance's website.
